AC/DC to play Aviva Stadium

AC/DC are to play the Aviva Stadium on July 1st, 2015.

One of the biggest rock bands in the world will play the venue as part of their Rock or Bust tour to promote the album of the same name.

The show will be their second major outdoor concert in Ireland. In 2009 they played Punchestown Racecourse in front of 70,000 fans. Tickets for their O2 show in 2009 sold out in just three minutes.

AC/DC have announced just three dates for next year’s tour so far. They will play Glasgow’s Hampden Park on June 28th and London’s Wembley Stadium on July 4th. Other dates will follow.

The band recorded their new album without guitarist Malcolm Young, brother of lead guitarist Angus Young.

Malcolm Young was diagnosed with dementia three years ago.

It is unclear whether they will tour with drummer Phil Rudd, who is facing a number of charges in New Zealand.

He has been charged with threatening to kill, which comes with a maximum prison sentence of seven years, as well as possessing methamphetamine and marijuana. He has pleaded not guilty and faces a judge-only trial next year.

After Rudd’s initial arrest, the band released a statement saying the tour will go on with or without him.

Tickets for AC/DC at the Aviva Stadium will cost €87.50 including booking fee and go on sale this Wednesday, December 17th at 9am
