Ireland scored five tries to two to beat Scotland 28-10 in an amateur international at West of Scotland FC in Glasgow today.

The better organised Irish had the game sewn up at half-time, when they led 18-0 thanks to tries from wingers Mark Sheehy and Mark Kingston and substitute Chris Nelmes.

Scotland, who play Wales at the Boulevard next Sunday, fought back with second-half tries from captain Simon Corrigan and Gregor Mathieson but the Irish added further touchdowns through loose forward Mark O'Connell, the man of the match, and second rower John Cronin. -PA
