The IRA is engaged in a campaign aimed at killing police officers in Northern Ireland, the RUC Chief Constable Ronnie Flanagan said last night. It was his fear that if the attacks continued, death would be the inevitable result.
All recent IRA attacks have been targeted on the RUC
mortar bombs fired at Land Rover patrols, mortars fired at a Border police station and a rocket fired at a security post manned by an RUC man at the Belfast High Court, he said on a UTV discussion programme.
