Jakarta - Fire tore through the upper floors of the new Ind onesian central bank tower building in central Jakarta yesterday, killing 15 people, emergency services said. Hundreds of people were evacuated from the 25-storey tower, which had been opened only on November 1st. Windows shattered along the side of the building as flames and smoke billowed out. Eight people were injured, four of them rescued by a helicopter from the top of the building, while four others made it down the emergency staircase. The fire was believed to have been sparked by a short circuit in the air-conditioning, a Bank Indonesia spokesman said, although there was confusion over which floor it started on.
