AN indictment is expected early next week in the case involving a 15 year old Co Meath boy charged with murder and robbery in connection with an armed raid in New York.
A grand jury is hearing the case at Nassau Supreme Court, New York. The jury will decide the exact charges to be made against Robert Bright, a native of Dunboyne.
He was arrested on December 7th after police said they recognised him from a video cape that they said showed him robbing a store cash register as hem held the cashier at gunpoint.
The cashier, Mr Mosood Sadiq, and two other men were allegedly taken into a storage room by Robert Bright's accomplice, Richard Robinson.
Then, according to police, Robinson shot and killed Mr Sadiq.
Robert Bright's lawyer, Mr Anthony Colleluoiri, says his client's handgun was not loaded and says he desperately wanted to be long in his new neighbourhood and so got involved with an older group of boys who used him.
Since his arrest, Robert Bright has remained on a suicide watch. Mr Colleluoiri says his client made two suicide attempts in the past.
Once the Grand Jury indicts Robert Bright, it will be up to the judge in charge of the case and Nassau County District Attorney to decide whether he will be charged as adult or juvenile.
