Dairy farmers might find it easier to stay within their milk quota if the calculation period was moved from the current April-to-March period to a calendar year, the ICMSA said yesterday.

The chairman of the association's dairy committee, Mr Tommy Cooke, has asked the farm advisory body, Teagasc, to conduct a major survey of the implications for the dairy sector of moving to calculation on the basis of a calendar year.
