A FORMER Taoiseach, Mr Charles Haughey, is expected to be discharged from hospital today or tomorrow. Mr Haughey has been in the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin, since Monday for what his doctor said were "investigative" cardiac tests.
It is believed that he has undergone angioplasty to clear a coronary artery blockage, which may have been causing the shortness of breath he experienced before going into hospital.
It is understood the procedure was successful and there will be no need for surgery unless the problem recurs.
Mr Haughey, who was visited by his family yesterday, is due to make an appearance at a car launch next Monday.
