Gardaí have identified a woman cyclist who was killed when she was crushed by a lorry on Dublin's O'Connell Bridge on Tuesday.

She was named as Ms Tanya Holst, 32, from Germany.

The woman was hit by a truck as she crossed from Burgh Quay towards Aston Quay. She apparently fell from her bicycle after hitting a pothole.

Yesterday afternoon, ireland.comsaw Dublin Corporation workers working on the road surface in the exact spot where the accident happened.

Last June, another cyclist, Ms Olivia Potterton (36) was killed in a similar incident after a collision with a lorry just yards away from Tuesday’s tragedy.
