A Dutch vessel, the MV Lenie, entered Ballina harbour yesterday with a cargo of 950 tonnes of Colombian coal, but the River Moy Harbour Commissioners, concerned about adequate insurance cover, kept the harbour gates locked and prevented the discharge of the cargo.

The ship was chartered by the Sligo-based Farrigstar company. The managing director, Mr Pierce McNulty, maintained that the insurance was in order.
