Gardaí seeking white van in hit-and-run case

Gardaí are looking for witnesses to a hit-and-run in Co Meath on Sunday that left a 60-year-old local man on life support.

Gardaí are looking for witnesses to a hit-and-run in Co Meath on Sunday that left a 60-year-old local man on life support.

The incident happened at 6.45 p.m. at Normanstown, Carlanstown, Kells. The local man was walking his dog on the Kells-to-Carlanstown Road when he was hit by a passing vehicle.

Gardaí believe the vehicle involved was a white Mercedes Sprinter van. Examination at the scene suggests that the van has damage to the front left side wing, mirror and indicator.

Kells gardaí want to talk to anyone who travelled the road on Sunday last between 6.30pm and 6.45pm. The road would take people to Ardee.

They are also looking for the driver of a white ambulance or doctor-on-call vehicle. which was seen on the road at the time or anyone who saw such a vehicle.

Anyone who has seen a damaged white Mercedes Sprinter in their area or anyone who ordered parts or carried out repairs on such a vehicle are also asked to contact gardaí in Kells on 046-9240999.
