Zamboanga - Two French journalist hostages were freed in the southern Philippines early today and an American is expected to be released later in the day, President Joseph Estrada has said.
"At about 6.30 a.m., our military recovered two French journalists," President Estrada said in a radio announcement, adding that American Jeffrey Schilling could be released by Abu Sayyaf Muslim rebels tonight. It was not immediately clear if the hostages had been freed by the rebels or by the military.
