Four African immigrants drowned 20 feet from shore at the same Spanish beach where 33 would-be immigrants died last week, according to local radio reports.

Another 34 who crossed the Atlantic waters between northwest Africa and Spain's Canary Islands were rescued by police.

Survivors said the victims jumped in the water believing it was shallow enough to walk ashore.

The deaths took place at Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, a common target for desperate immigrants trying to reach Europe.
