Gardai have ruled out foul play in their investigation of a fire which caused over £1 million worth of damage to a leisure complex in the centre of Cork yesterday morning. Garda technical experts and Cork City Fire Brigade personnel examined the remains of the Grand Central Complex, off Sheares Street, and believe the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault.

Residents were evacuated from their homes and Sheares Street was closed for several hours after the blaze broke out at the former Woodford Bourne wine vaults shortly before 1 a.m. Six fire brigade units spent over four hours bringing it under control.
