DHAKA - Bangladesh chief election commissioner, Mr A. K. M. Sadeque, accused by opposition leaders of being partisan in February's general elections, has resigned, presidential officials said yesterday.

His resignation came a week after the downfall of the Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia, forced out of office after a long opposition led campaign of protests and strikes.
