Assembly elections in the North should not be postponed, the SDLP leader Mr Mark Durkan said today, calling on Ulster Unionist leader Mr David Trimble to return to talks.
Leaving Number 10 Downing Street after a meeting with the British Prime Minister Mr Blair, Mr Durkan said he had had a "good" meeting covering all the obvious issues, but this morning's IRA statement did not feature.
He said all parties must try to see the executive restored ahead of the May elections.
"We have to make that our determination. That is one of the reasons why I believe there should be no move to postpone the elections."

A delegation from Sinn Féin is also attending a meeting with Mr Blair in London, after it was postponed yesterday due to bad weather.
