Dublin's Kildare Street has been reopened after being closed for two hours following a gas leak

Dublin's Kildare Street has been reopened after being closed for two hours following a gas leak. A number of buildings were evacuated.

Emergency services were called to the scene after a JCB operator punctured a gas mains
during city centre road works.

The gas supply was ruptured near the Department of Agriculture building on Kildare Street at around 9am.

Four units of the fire brigade have evacuated nearby buildings and cordoned off the area.

The fire services said the leak was under control.
