Double trouble for Charlie

Charlie Haughey in a Dunnes Stores shirt? Surely not. Well yes, actually. His effigy in Senator Donie Cassidy's National Wax Museum in Parnell Square, Dublin is wearing just such a shirt. It was bought by manageress Kay Murray when his likeness went up in 1983. She told Quidnunc that prudence drove her to Dunnes because they had so little money. And the suit? Well when Charlie sat for his face mask, he donated it himself. The label says Monaghans of Stephen's Green.
