Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the body of a woman in her late 40s at a house in Co Mayo.

The discovery was made when emergency services were called to a house in Ballycurrin near Glen Corrib at approximately 4.30pm Sunday afternoon.

The woman’s body remains at the scene which has been preserved pending a forensic and technical examination.

The local coroner and the office of the State pathologist have been notified.

Gardaí in Claremorris are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery and enquiries are ongoing.
