A 57-year-old man was injured after a man wearing a balaclava and armed with a knife entered the Clondalkin shop he was working in on Thursday.

At about 3pm a man entered a shop on Castle Crescent, Clondalkin in Dublin 22, threatened staff with a knife and demanded money.

A 57-year-old man, who was working in the shop, injured his hand during the ensuing altercation.

Gardaí arrived at the scene and arrested the 32-year-old suspect under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He was charged and will appear before Blanchardstown District Court at 10.30am on Friday.
