Motorcyclist (40s) dies following crash in Co Kildare

Gardaí appeal for information following collision in Athy on Friday evening

A motorcyclist in his mid-40s has died following a crash in Co Kildare.

The incident occurred on the R417 in the townland of Kilberry, Athy, at about 6.10pm on Friday.

The deceased man was injured when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle. He was removed from the scene by ambulance to Naas General Hospital, where he later died.

A postmortem will take place in due course, gardaí said. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

The road remained closed on Friday with Garda forensic collision investigators at scene. Local diversions were in place.
