Man and woman arrested over fatal Wicklow stabbing are released without charge

The two were detained by gardaí on Thursday after incident at Ballyconnell house

A man and a woman arrested in connection with the fatal assault of a man at a house in Co Wicklow have been released without charge.

Juris Viktorovs (36), who was originally from Lithuania, sustained fatal injuries in a stabbing incident on Thursday night at the house in Ballyconnell, Shillelagh.

While the alarm was raised quickly and gardaí and paramedics went to the scene, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí arrested a woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s shortly after arriving on the scene on Thursday. However, both have now been released without charge, and files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In a statement on Saturday, gardaí said that investigations into the incident were ongoing, and they appealed for any person who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.
