A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted in north Belfast.

The 24-year-old was one of four men reportedly attacked by two other men just before 5am in the Antrim Road area.

Two men, aged 31 and 23, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Alan Little appealed for information and witnesses.

“Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact us in CID in Antrim Road police station on 0845 600 8000,” he said.

“If someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111”.
