Two investigations are under way after a 65 year-old man died while working with farm machinery in Co Kerry on Monday.

The incident happened in the Ballylongford area in the north of the county at about 9.30am. Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was later pronounced dead.

It is believed that he died from a crush injury sustained while working with a tractor.

The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed that it has begun an investigation following the fatality, which was the fourth death to occur on an Irish farm so far this year.

Gardaí have also begun a separate investigation into the incident.
