The drugs were seized and arrests made after a stop-and-search operation targeting one of the suspects in a car, with a follow-up search at an address in the south inner city. The search yielded 58kg of cannabis.

The seizure by the special crime task force and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau was a planned operation against suspects known to the Garda for involvement in serious organised crime.

On Tuesday evening gardaí stopped one of the suspects in a vehicle in Dublin 2 and after speaking to him members of the Garda team searched a property in the same area.
