London - Babies less than a year old stand a greater risk of being murdered than any other age group, according to new statistics. Children aged five to 14 are the least likely to be homicide victims, figures published yesterday in Britain by the Office for National Statistics show.
The figures will add to the controversy over a campaign by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children warning parents to be aware of the dangers posed to youngsters during the summer holidays. Critics say it is unnecessarily raising fears among parents of their children being murdered.
