THE Cistercian monk who was jailed for two years last January when he admitted indecently assaulting girls in the Creggan area of Derry nine years ago, -appeared before Derry Magistrate's court yesterday, charged with four more sex offences, one of them rape. Gerard John McCailion (48) is a native of Lifford, Co Donegal.

Det Insp Robbie Paul told the magistrates' court that when arrested, charged and cautioned at police headquarters, McCailion replied "Not guilty" to the four charges.

The defendant, who is due for release from prison next January, was remanded in custody until November 20th.
