STRASBOURG - The EU Commission last night agreed to give the Oxford study into BSE a second chance. The evidence which the British government argues should win a reprieve for some 147,000 cattle lacing slaughter is being referred to experts for closer analysis.
The Agriculture Commissioner, Mr Franz Fischler, told yesterday's meeting that the Oxford study, which sets out a range of options for eradicating BSE, was a "serious" and "constructive" document.
