British army representatives based in south Armagh have for the first time in 30 years not attended the local Remembrance Day service in Bessbrook, Co Armagh. The move has angered local unionist politicians and members of the Royal British Legion.

The UUP MLA for Newry and Armagh, Mr Danny Kennedy, described the army's action as a "snub" and said it was "disgraceful" the British government's "political sensitivities" should have contributed to the decision.
