British airline bmi - formerly British Midland - is to expand its services from Dublin, the company said today.

Bmi’s Dublin-London Heathrow route has continued to perform strongly, despite the downturn in the economy, according to bmi product manager Ms Leonie Furlong.

She said: "It is very encouraging that the Dublin-London Heathrow route continues to perform so well, despite the downturn in the global economy and current problems facing the global airline industry".

As part of bmi's new winter schedule, the airline will increase its daily return flights on the Dublin-London Heathrow route from eight to ten, effective until November 30th, and to nine return services until March 30th 2002.

Bmi recently began a new price-promise campaign guaranteeing passengers they will not pay more than £109 when travelling off-peak in economy class between Dublin and London-Heathrow during the lifetime of the promotion.

As part of its new winter timetable, bmi will also operate three daily return services on the Dublin-East Midlands route, from Monday through Friday.

Two flights will operate on a Sunday, and one rotation will operate on a Saturday.
