Singer Bob Dylan has cancelled a concert in Cork this evening due to illness.

The event was to take place in Greenglens Arena, Millstreet.

A statement issued on behalf of the concert promoter Aiken Promotions said: "Mr Bob Dylan is ill. He has severe viral laryngitis.

"After consulting with doctors in Dublin and Killarney it was strongly recommended that Bob Dylan not perform tonight's show in Greenglens Arena, Millstreet, Cork.

"Due to prior commitments it is not possible to reschedule tonight's concert. Therefore tickets for this concert can be refunded from point of purchasefrom Friday, 21st November 2003.

"On behalf of the artist, Aiken Promotions wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Dylan (62), played at Dublin's Point Theatre last night.

The legendary songwriter has been touring almost constantly since 2001. Tonight's concert was to be his 29th on his autumn 2003 tour.
