LONDON Tory MPs last night demanded the resignation of Labour's Shadow Welsh Secretary Ron Davies after he told a TV programme the Prince of Wales was unfit to be king.

Speaking on BBC Wales TV, Mr Davies questioned the suitability to rule be he talks to plants and blood sports and accused to the throne of failing up to the virtues he preaches.

In a statement following "discussions" with Mr Blair's office, Mr Davies withdrew the remarks and said he would be writing to prince to apologise formally.
