Struggling Internet media company Yahoo! said last night its chief sales and marketing officer, Mr Anil Singh, will leave the company in May, vacating one of the posts that will be instrumental in rebuilding its sagging advertising business.

Mr Singh had been planning for months to step down from his current post, but the company had previously said he would stay on in a more visionary role.

The news follows the recent departures of three of Yahoo!'s top overseas executives as well as its announcement last week that Mr Tim Koogle would step down as chief executive once a successor was found.

In addition to finding new managers, Yahoo! is also under pressure to attract more advertisers to its site.

Last week it cut its first-quarter and full-year earnings forecasts, saying that it was not attracting advertisers in the volumes it had seen during better times.
