A man accused of raping an 87 year old woman has been released on bail. The man, aged 20 and from north Dublin, has to live with his family, observe a curfew and stay out of a named area as part of bail conditions. He is accused of criminal damage, aggravated burglary and raping the pensioner on December 6th.
Dublin District Court heard yesterday the State is proceeding with the case although the woman had died recently. The defendant was freed on sureties totalling £3,000 to appear again on June 4th, when additional evidence is expected to be served.
