A man was killed on the outskirts of the Afghan capital Kabul when explosives he had strapped to his body detonated near an army base.
The blast occurred shortly before midnight, about two miles from a base used by US and French troops to train Afghan soldiers. A German peacekeeping base is also in the area.
"He had explosive materials attached to his body, but we don't know what his intention was," said a Kabul police spokesman.
Four German peacekeepers were killed in a suicide car-bomb attack in Kabul on June 7th.
Authorities have blamed a string of attacks on government and international troops on remnants of the Taliban regime, their al-Qaeda allies and fighters loyal to renegade warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, all of whom want foreign troops out of Afghanistan.
