IT WAS a case of minding the pennies for the Waterford Lotto winner who collected £2

IT WAS a case of minding the pennies for the Waterford Lotto winner who collected £2.6 million from the National Lottery yesterday. A spare 50p he found in his car paid for the winning Quickpick ticket.

The man, a fitter, wishes to remain anonymous. He is married with a young family.

Sipping celebratory champagne at the Lottery headquarters in Dublin yesterday, the winner said he was going to pay his bills, buy a new car, go on a "great" holiday and invest the balance "somewhere" safe.
