GARDAI raiding a Dublin flat under the Misuse of Drugs Act discovered it was being operated as a brothel, a court yesterday.

Stuart Haddow (34), with an address at Custom House Dock, Dublin, pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to running a brothel at Custom House Dock on March 28th.

Det Sgt John McMahon told how gardai went to the flat to carry out a drugs search but instead discovered the flat was a brothel.

Haddow was arrested and a number of TVs, video recorders, leather straps and cash worth £150 and a cheque for £120 were seized. The items have been forfeited to the State.

Mr Michael Staines, solicitor, defending, said the brothel had only just opened and Haddow had not made a profit. Judge William Hamill was told the defendant had no previous convictions before fining him £500.
