1. Simple Shower
No misnomer here: the Simple Shower could hardly be simpler. Made by the aptly-named Rainburst, it’s been designed to work with a standard large plastic bottle to turn it into a portable shower. Its makers suggest the 2 litre bottle is ideal, with the Simple Shower screwing on the top. You fill it with water, then simply turn upside down and start singing. The inner tube lets the air in to deliver a smooth shower flow. And if warm water isn’t on tap, and you’re lucky enough to be somewhere warm, just leave it out for a couple of hours. $10 from simple-shower.com.
2. Birnabag
Invented by a Norwegian mum to protect her son from the Scandinavian elements, Birnabag is a super protective cover for child carriers. Windproof, water-repellent and thickly insulated, it attaches securely to backpack carriers and lets you wrap up your bundle of joy snugly. It also means the child doesn’t have to be bundled into several layers, as the Birnabag does the job. There are reflectors on the back and it weighs in at just over 1kg: nothing if you’re the sort of parent who wants to get out in all conditions. It’ll also fit some models of pushchairs. €140 from birnabag.no.
3. Crumpler Vis-à-Vis Clean
This is the suitcase for the exhibitionist packer. Or one simply determined to show they’ve literally nothing to hide. Aussie luggage brand, Crumpler – official luggage for its Olympics team – has added a completely transparent hard shell case to its Vis-à-Vis range. Everything’s on show, so you’ll need your best smalls to the outside. It’s got safety straps all around and an integrated TSA lock. Not that they’ll need to open it to search you. €505 from crumpler.com
