Peugeot is set to replace its current 106 supermini with an all-new 107. The new model, due for launch in Spring 2004, will is the production version of the Promethee concept car first revealed in autumn 2000, and will include its sliding doors.
The computer generated image is derived from several photographs taken in southern France while the car was undergoing heat-testing in the mountains. The test-team in France was testing cooling and brakes of the new one-box design city car.
The front-end design of the smallest Peugeot will feature the new family face and will remind of the 307 and 607.
Depending on the equipment-package chosen, these sliding doors can be operated manually or electrically, the latter also by remote control. Both sliding doors offer access to rear seats.
With a length of around 3.7 metres and height of 1.7 metres, it will be a direct rival to the up-coming Renault Clio Monospace, expected to debut in 2005.
The new 107 will come with a variable interior with two single removable seats in the rear.
While the choice of engines will come from the current 106 range, a new 1.4-litre HDi diesel unit developed together with Ford will also be on offer.
