Dalkey/€30m: The most expensive house on the south Dublin coast, Sorrento House, on Sorrento Terrace in Dalkey has been put on the international market at €30 million.
Its owner, mobile phone millionaire Terry Coleman, is hoping to target wealthy UK buyers, having had the six-bedroom Victorian house quietly on the market in Dublin for several months.
It stands at the end of a terrace of stucco-fronted houses that look south over Killiney Bay, with gardens running down to the sea and a private bathing place.
The four-storey house has virtually doubled in size since Mr Coleman bought in 1998 for £5.9 million.
The sale caused a sensation at the time - it was the highest price ever paid at auction for a Dublin house, and one that needed complete refurbishment having been in the same family for over 50 years.
Houses in the terrace are currently valued at €5 million to €6 million apiece, but Sorrento House is an exception, occuping a prime two-acre piece of headland, with 180-degree views of the sea and extensive frontage onto the shore.
The semi-detached house has several elegant reception rooms, bedrooms and a separate summerhouse replacing a caravan that once stood in the gardens.
There is also a large garage complex that includes staff accommodation.
Worldwide agents, Knight Frank, are handling the sale jointly with Sherry FitzGerald. Rosie Mulvany of the agency's Dalkey office confirmed that the owner is looking for an overseas buyer and says that so far there has been "good interest".
Neighbours on the south-facing terrace include film maker Neil Jordan, who has two adjoining houses, and property developing duo Robin Power and Michelle Kavanagh.
