New departure on period terrace in Sandymount

Sometimes the “A” in the address is the only clue that a house is a recent addition – but no hints are required when it comes to 19A Leahy Terrace in Sandymount.

The hulking two-storey over-basement modern brick house stands out from its neighbours, typically classic Victorian homes. It’s had a chequered history – in 2005 number 19 Leahy Terrace came on the market with obvious development potential in its large side garden. It’s only nod to its Victorian neighbours is the layout. The kitchen, diningroom and family room are down at basement level – the kitchen is to the front and has been fitted with sleek contemporary units.
