1930s semi with generous garden

Thorncliffe Park is a small estate of big 1930s semis situated just off Orwell Road on the Dublin 14 side of the Dodder. Some of the properties back on to Milltown Golf Course. The Russian embassy is situated on nearby Orwell Road.

The houses have simple features and generous proportions, notably their gardens. The southwest-facing back garden of number 15 originally measured 150-feet long. The storage units are set against the wall and mainly below the counter which helps the room to breathe and knits the livingroom area, where a large picture window frames a view of garden, to the rest of the space. It was installed and designed by Wabi Sabi two years ago.

As there is off-street parking to the front for several cars the family uses the garage as an enormous pantry.

In it there are numerous cupboards, a drinks cooler, a second fridge and another washing machine.

There is a TV room to the front of the house. The house has two interconnecting reception rooms, a sittingroom to the front with an open fireplace and a formal diningroom with glass doors leading out to the garden.

Bathroom

The family bathroom is on the return and there are three bedrooms, two good-size doubles, one to the front, the other overlooking the garden, and the master bedroom where they broke two bedrooms into one to make a sizeable space with bespoke cabinetry and wardrobes, also by Wabi Sabi, and a small but windowed en suite shower room.

There is an attic room that spans the width of the house.
