Further hold up for planned six-storey Donnybrook hotel

Plans for a six-storey hotel in Donnybrook village have been held up pending further information sought by Dublin City Council from a company associated with businessman Emmet O'Neill, nephew of businessman Denis O'Brien.

Since applying for planning permission in December, 18 objections were lodged with the council by locals against the proposed development, including one residents group that comprises 124 individuals.

The council appears to have taken heed of their concerns and has asked Mr O’Neill’s company to “consider an overall reduction in height” in addition to considering a reduction in the bulk and massing of the proposed scheme.

Mr O'Neill's company Kouchin Holding can now submit amended plans, taking the council's comments on board, at which point they will decide whether to grant or refuse planning permission.

While Kouchin is listed as the applicant for the proposed hotel, the application clarifies that the owner of the site is Partenay, an investment vehicle associated with Mr O’Brien that has made several applications to develop the site previously.
