Spring art auctions in Dublin

Results from De Veres
De Vere's art auction at Bewley's Hotel, Ballsbridge,
on Tuesday evening ended with 75 per cent of lots sold.

A 1981 painting of a betting shop, Arkle Racing, Marlborough Street, Dublin by John Doherty sold for €26,000 (€25,000-€35,000). The Sisters by Jack B Yeats made €60,000 (€50,000-€70,000); The Palladian Bridge, Wilton by Sir John Lavery, with the same estimate, failed to sell. Fantail Pigeons, a 1985 oil-on-canvas, by Louis le Brocquy achieved the
highest price, €81,000 (€40,000-€60,000). Other highlights included: Still Life With A Compotier Of Fruit by Roderic O'Conor and Girl With Stripes by Colin Middleton which each sold for €72,000 (both estimated at €60,000- €90,000). See deveres.ie

At Adam's art auction in St Stephen's Green on Wednesday evening, 75 per cent of lots sold.

Three paintings by Patrick Hennessy: The Long Road Home, Connemara , €16,000 (€7,000-€10,000); The White Mare , €7,200 (€4,000- €6,000); and, Purple And Gold , €5,000 (€5,000-€8,000). The top lot was Girl With Owl by Colin Middleton, €46,000 (€40,000-€60,000). Other notable prices included Sailing Boat On A Lough by Paul Henry, €28,000 (€30,000- €50,000); In The London Flat by Gerard Dillon, €33,000 (€20,000-€30,000); Still Life Of Flowers In Mirror by William John Leech, €23,000 (€10,000-€15,000); A
