Food File: the weekly food news round-up

There will be a broth, a terrine, a selection of charcuterie, those ribs, spiced brisket and dessert on the menu, all for €35. Book at kcpwinecave@gmail.com

FOOD TV ONLINE
Jamie Oliver's FoodTube channel is worth a look for some quick video recipes. Take a look at youtube.com/user/JamieOliver. Recent additions have included an excellent tutorial on making mayonnaise, and a 45-second strawberry ice cream. Ireland's Donal Skehan is a contributor, and his quick pasta supper video clocked up an amazing 16,813 views within four days of going online. But for a step up in terms of aesthetics, take a look online at forkful.tv, for a series of recipe videos made by Aoife McElwain and Mark Duggan, Aoife cooks the food and Mark shoots the films, and the whole project is incredibly stylish, with great music, too.

BBQ BANGERS TOP TIP
The very excellent UK food writer and broadcaster Matthew Fort suggests boiling sausages for 10 minutes before barbecuing them, which we thought was a terrific idea – until keen foodie Daniel Norton went one better and told us he boils them in beer before throwing them on the barbie. Cheers! For the adults only, mind.

NEW FOOD HEROES
Fáilte Ireland this week appointed eight new food ambassadors to promote great Irish food. They are all from the west, located along the Wild Atlantic Way, a touring route running from Donegal to west Cork, which will be the focus of the new campaign. They include a gardener, Deborah Evers (above), of Clareville House Kitchen Garden; a chocolatier, Benoit Lorge, and a lecturer at GMIT, Galway, Jacinta Dalton. Their first job will be to head to Norway to experience a food tourism driving route. The other appointees are Hugh O'Donnell of Kitty Kelly's and Hughie's bar in Killybegs; Martin Bealin of Global Village in Dingle; Mary McGettigan, A Taste of Donegal; Zack Gallagher, Irish Food Tours, Donegal, and Ross Quinn, Vasco restaurant, Fanore.
