Seven things to do this week

Seven things to do this week

TODAY Take in part a moment of history when you watch the first of Ballymun's seven tower blocks come down. The 15-storey Pearse Tower will be dismantled floor by floor - no spectacular explosions, unfortunately - and the event, including prayers read by descendants of Pearse, can be viewed from the car-park of the Civic Offices behind the tower. Catch the 19A bus from O'Connell Street as parking is limited. At noon.

TOMORROW David Bowie can't be there because of a pinched nerve in his shoulder but that doesn't mean you should miss the second day of Oxegen at Punchestown Racecourse. The Darkness, Ash, Black Eyed Peas and Hot House Flowers are among the acts on stage today. Watch out for tribute band the Madchester Experience with lead singer, Irish Times journo Kevin Courtney. Day passes 59.50. www.oxegen.ie.

MONDAY Room 106 is a hotel room with a difference. This site-specific artwork by artists Rhona Byrne, Neva Elliott, Isabel Nolan, Louisa Sloan and David Timmons is located in a room at La Stampa Hotel, Dawson Street, Dublin. Each artist has "interrogated the notion of the hotel room through new work". Check in at reception for the preview on Monday, 6-8 p.m. Also on view Tuesday and Wednesday, 2-8 p.m.
