TRACK OF THE WEEK
Nao - Girlfriend
Stripped-back, syncopated and sexy, this track feels like a wavy Prince jam. It surges and pulls back in all the right places – when Nao pauses before 'girlfriend' in the chorus, it's like she's catching her breath before daring to make things official. We've all been there, and it's just as exhilarating each time.
Hero of the week is Niall Horan AKA the World's Most Relaxed Popstar. He told Global Radio: "I've just been in the studio, nothing sneaky or in the pipeline, there's nothing in particular going on. Writing is something that I've always enjoyed as you know. I've been writing with a few lads. I've made relationships down through the years so I've just been able to do, 'Do you wanna write?', call up someone and then cool, let's go in the studio and write." He went on: "I have to say it's been really good, just being able to chill out, not really have a schedule, and just being able to do your own thing."
Meanwhile, Florence and theMachine was a baby witch. She told Time Out: "I had a coven and we had spell books. It was all about trying to get these boys to fall in love with us: pricking our fingers and putting blood in a jar. I started making a shrine. My mum got very angry with me because I kept lighting candles and she thought I was going to set the house on fire." She went on: "Although I don't think our spells worked. I don't think Joe ever did fall in love with me. Or maybe the spell worked so well that he still is in love with me.'
Zero of the week is Tayvin. We bow our heads in sadness, as Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift have broken up. In a very modern way, Calvin tweeted: ""The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect". Taylor then retweeted him. So that's that. No 'can't wait for her next album' jokes please, folks.
