Investigation launched after two passengers enter Ryanair cockpit

The Irish Aviation Authority is investigating an incident where two passengers were allowed into the cockpit during a Ryanair flight.

A spokesman for Ryanair said the incident involved three employees of the airline and all were travelling off duty.

The incident allegedly happened on the flight from Dublin to Schoenefeld airport in Berlin last Friday.

The IAA decided to launch an investigation on Thursday following passengers’ concerns after two women entered the cockpit.

“In general access to the cockpit is restricted to operational staff, including staff passengers, provided they are known to the commander,” the IAA said in a statement.

It added the authority has the power to implement and enforce regulations as required.

Ryanair said in a statement it had investigated the matter and it was now closed.

“These were three Ryanair employees travelling off duty. All three were wearing their Ryanair ID and were known to the flight crew,” it said.

The airline did not say what its policy is regarding passengers or off duty crew entering the cockpit during a flight.
