Remember Zombies, Run!? Six to Start is back with another app designed to get you moving without being overly heavy on emphasising how important fitness is. In fact, it almost fools you into moving more. The Walk is a story-based fitness tracker. After a bomb explodes in Inverness station, you have to walk the length of the UK with a package that could save the world. You have to avoid being captured by both the police and enemy agents as you walk. Your goal is 10,000 steps a day, and as you move you advance the story, unlocking the clues and achievements as you go. All you have to do is put the phone in your pocket or bag and you can start tracking your steps. The app has the backing of the UK's NHS, and although it's not as compelling as Zombies, Run! (it lacks playlist integration support, for example, although that may be rectified in an update), it's definitely an option for those who need a lower impact workout. thewalkgame.com
