Staying safe with Internet Explorer

Both US Homeland Security and the UK government have advised internet users to consider using alternative web browsers to Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6 to 11 following the discovery of a security flaw that could allow hackers to remotely access the user's computer. If you're using a computer in a workplace or university where you have no choice but to use IE download this patch while you're waiting for the fix. In the meantime keep the firewall turned on, use long mixed character passwords and ensure your antivirus software is updated. Also be wary of email attachments and don't click on something unless you're sure it's legitimate.
