TECHNOLOGY:The browser wars have stepped up a notch after it was revealed that Google's Chrome browser overtook Internet Explorer as the most popular choice for the month of May.
According to figures from web analytics StatCounter, Chrome took over as the world's top browser with a 32.43 per cent of the market in May.
However, Internet Explorer wasn't far behind, with 32.12 per cent. StatCounter also noted Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft's newest browser, is performing well, and overall, Internet Explorer still remains the top choice for UK and US users. Firefox rounded out the top three with 25.55 per cent of the 15 billion page views recorded last month.
Chrome has previously edged ahead of Internet Explorer for short periods but this is the first time it has managed to beat Microsoft's web browser for a full month.
